Norwood

Winner 2012 LASA Awards – Design & Construction

This home’s extension was constructed from rammed earth, recycled timber and iron and reflected the personalities of the owners perfectly.   The space was not large and the brief was to incorporate a space for a little boy to play, have some lawn, a productive garden and somewhere to entertain.  The clients wanted to incorporate as many different textures and materials as we could to make the garden interesting and not formal.  There were, as usual, fences and sheds to screen, neighbours to take into consideration and two large gum trees to be retained.  There was also the neighbour’s heritage listed stable wall that dominated the back yard that was not highly stable and so needed to be taken out of the equation as much as possible.  The great thing about this garden were the different areas that easily enabled us to make it interesting.
